Dr. Ghayandi. I am impressed to see a woman at SDM. This may seem offensive but after hearing male professor after male professor refer to everyone as "he" I was getting fed up considering it's a global market including all sexes.

Friedman discusses the quality of service India offers to its patrons. The overall Indian experience has proven that service here is much better than the US. From our site visits to dining out at a local restaurant, Indians want to make it clear that quality is assured or none the less guaranteed.

Dr. Gayathri discussed the growth and expansion of the Indian service industry. She emphasized upon eight major factors which are the foundations of this ever expanding India. These eight components include healthcare, hospitality, IT, life insurance, media & entertainment, retail, telecommunication, and aviation. Of all of these facets, the supply in telecommunications happens to be lagging in comparison to its demands. Telecom is the fastest growing industry in India. Dr. Gayathri pointed out corporations who are ahead in adaptability will come out successful in profits and recognition.

The visit to L&T was by far the most enjoyable site visit. The facility is very modern with contemporary equipment. I definitely felt L&T reciprocated the excitement of us being there. Their hospitality were genuinely warm at greeting us—all of India actually. The lunch was probably the most and best food I have eaten in this entire trip.

Nagaraj G.P. was our tour guide and led one of the numerous divisions at L&T. His passion and loyalty is one of the many reasons why there were so many employees who have devoted over 10 years of experience with the company. During lunch, Dan, Felix, and I had lunch with a woman who had worked there for 18 years. She told us she landed the job immediately after graduating from secondary school (high school), ever since then she has been with L&T. Hearing how passionate she was about her job and why she loved working for L&T makes me want to pursue a career in business where it can too fulfill my career expectations on top of my personal goals.

It was clear L&T was doing something right with its company and why it is experiencing the level of success it has. From a human resources perspective, it is an attractive and qualitative place to want to work and they have high employee job satisfaction with respect to its bottom line. The working conditions are exceptional. L&T is a young diverse group of individuals who trust its employees to make sound and innovative decisions to become the leader in their industry.

The environment at L&T today made Friedman’s flattners more apparent than any other part of India I have seen so far. Nagaraj briefed us on the broad range of heavy engineering to medical equipment development projects. L&T’s overall breadth and depth of the resources it taps into open my eyes as to how multidimensional they are. They don’t assume to be focused on any one particular facet of the industry but in marketing its brand, engineering the world, and/or integrating technological advances.
